Our first agenda Telangana: Nitin Gadkari

The Bharatiya Janata Party will come to power in 2014 and our first agenda is formation of Telangana state said BJP president Nitin Gadkari.  Gadkari participated in the meeting held in Adilabad.

 

TDP our rival not Congress: Jagan

There were speculations that YS Jaganmohan Reddy may contest to Assembly in the by-elections.  Jagan told that he will contest to Parliament only.

In an interview to Hindustan Times, Jagan claimed that his rival is Telugu Desam Party and not the Congress.  He predicted that the Congress will settle for third position in the by-elections.

The Congress will face worst situation than what it had faced in 1994, he added.  Jagan said that he will begin his Odarpu yatra in Telangana soon.

It may be noted that Jagan had to cancel his Odarpu yatra in Telangana region due to violent protests by Telangana activists mainly TRS activists.

Going by the happenings in the state it appears that Jagan and KCR have secret dealings to support each other.

 

Students boycott exams

Students boycotted the MCA, M Ed examinations being conducted by Osmania University.  OUJAC supported the boycott. 

Students did not attend Wesley College in Secunderabad and Koti College.  As a precaution, heavy security forces deployed in Osmania University campus.

Andhra student shot dead in US

A Telugu student was shot dead in the US.  Elaprolu Jayachandra was killed at petrol bunk.  He was doing part time job in the petrol bunk in Texas.  Jayachandra was studying MS.  He was from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

Greenhouse gas emissions may get double in next 15-20 years: Jairam Ramesh

Greenhouse gas emissions of transport sector could double in two decades. Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said, the transport sector accounts for 7.5 per cent of the greenhouse gas emissions in the country now. This is expected to be go up to 15 per cent in the next 15 to 20 years.

Ramesh told a function in New Delhi that there has to be mandatory fuel efficiency standards to control the emissions. He said that a national transport policy committee has been constituted and the committee will give its recommendations in next 12 to 15 months.

The Minister pitched for evolving an effective fuel policy regime to discourage the use of Sports utility vehicles that emit more carbons.

Rains cause havoc in AP, toll rises to 25

Heavy rains in coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last four days have claimed 25 lives so far, with five more deaths reported on Wednesday, forcing chief minister K. Rosaiah to ask Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for central assistance.

‘At least six districts received 1,000-times excess rainfall during last four days, causing widespread damage to houses and crops. As many as 1,018 villages were inundated and 600,000 people were affected by the rains,’ Rosaiah wrote in his letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P. Chidambaram Wednesday, requesting for relief funds.
